Steel to Blade, the Basic



- at a cost of $ 450.00 per participant. No Knifemaking experience required. 2 day course. Basic material included, upgrades available. Minimum 2 participants


  1. Safety
  2. Basic machine setup & maintenance
  3. Design, layout & making of a fixed blade drop point knife
  4. Grinding, the basics
  5. Blade finished by hand
  6. Handle fitting
  7. Other topics as needed to complete this knife

Steel to Blade, the Advanced



- at a cost of $ 550.00 per participant. Basic material included, upgrades available. Should have Knifemaking experience. 2 day course. Minimum 2 participants


  1. Safety
  2. Basic machine setup & maintenance
  3. Design, layout & making of a fixed blade drop point knife
  4. Grinding
  5. Heat treating of steel used
  6. Blade finished by hand
  7. Bolster or guard fitting
  8. Handle fitting, dovetailing
  9. Other topics as needed to complete this knife

Steel to Blade, the Premium



- at a cost of $ 675.00 per participant, plus material cost. Must have Basic course. 2 1/2 day course. Minimum 2 participants


  1. Safety
  2. Basic machine setup & maintenance
  3. Design, layout and making of a fixed blade full tang Damascus knife. (Damascus making not included)
  4. Sweeping Grind, as seen on all HCK knives. Grinding daggers.
  5. Heat treating of Damascus steel, mar quenching, thermal cycling, argon use
  6. Blade finished, high end by hand
  7. Invisible Bolster pinning
  8. Handle fitting, premium materials
  9. Other topics as needed to complete this knife

Liner Locking Folders



- at a cost of $ 950.00 per participant. Basic material included, upgrades available. Must have Basic course. 3 day course. Maximum 2 participants


  1. Safety
  2. Basic machine setup & maintenance
  3. Design, layout and making of a folder
  4. Sweeping Grind, as seen on all HCK knives
  5. Blade finishing, Damascus considerations
  6. Hole layout, drilling, tapping and reaming
  7. Precision fitting
  8. Special considerations
  9. Other topics as needed to complete this knife

Demonstrations



I would be delighted to do hands on demonstrations at your event. This could be as simple as sharpening, chef's knives usage or as complicated as making a knife or related teachings. The possibilities of demonstrations would only be limited by your facilities.
